Van Morrison Returns to Brighton Dome for Another Sold-Out Show
The Northern Irish musician performed at Brighton Dome on 30 October, marking his 28th appearance at the venue since his first local performance in 1965.
Long Connection to Brighton
Van Morrison performed at Brighton Dome on 30 October in what marks another chapter in his lengthy association with the city. The Belfast-born musician first played in the area at Hove Town Hall on 12 August 1965 as part of the band Them, and has since returned on numerous occasions.
The latest show was the artist's 28th performance at Brighton Dome specifically. Across Brighton and Hove more broadly, Morrison has played at least 34 times since that initial 1965 appearance.
Career Highlights
Morrison was born on 31 August 1945 in Belfast. He formed his first skiffle group, The Sputniks, at age 12 and went on to front the band Them in the early 1960s. The group released "Baby, Please Don't Go" in 1964, backed with the now-classic "Gloria", followed by hits including "Here Comes The Night" and "Mystic Eyes" in 1965.
After Them disbanded in 1967, Morrison pursued a solo career. His debut album "Blowin' Your Mind!" featured "Brown Eyed Girl", which reached the US Top 10 in June 1967 and spent 16 weeks on the chart. The track was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in January 2007.
Since launching his solo career, Morrison has released 50 albums. His most recent release is a blues record titled "Somebody Tried To Sell Me A Bridge", which came out on 23 January 2026.
Performance Style
Now 81 years old, Morrison continues to perform regularly. He typically limits crowd interaction during his concerts, though band members receive acknowledgement during shows. Photo passes for this date were declined, as has been the case for other dates on his current tour.
