Southwick Beach Car Park Winter Parking Fees to Drop from November

Shoreham Port has introduced seasonal tariff reductions at Southwick beach car park, cutting parking costs from 1 November until the end of February 2027.

Brighton & Hove Editorial26 October 2026

Reduced rates begin this week

Drivers at Southwick beach car park will benefit from lower parking charges from 1 November, when Shoreham Port's winter tariff comes into effect. The seasonal pricing will remain in place until 28 February 2027.

Under the new winter rates, a two-hour stay will cost £2.20, down from £3. Parking for up to four hours will be £4.40 instead of £6. For longer stays, visitors parking between four and six hours will pay £6.60, reduced from £9, whilst six to eight hour parking will cost £8.80 rather than £12.

New payment options introduced

Shoreham Port has also introduced a new one-hour parking ticket priced at £1.10 during winter and £1.50 in summer, aimed at drivers making shorter trips. A card payment machine will be installed alongside existing payment methods including the PayByPhone mobile app, online payment, and phone and text options on 0330 400 7275. Southwick beach is the only car park across Shoreham Port's estate to receive a cashless payment machine.

Following community consultation

The changes follow feedback gathered after Shoreham Port acquired the beach, public toilets, beach huts and car park in May 2026. Port bosses said they consulted with residents, surfers, beach users and local businesses before approving the tariff adjustments.

Neighbouring businesses, including the owners of Carats Cafe, and other visitors had previously raised concerns about price increases across the port's estate. The winter tariff reductions appear to address some of these complaints, offering lower costs during the quieter autumn and winter months.

The move represents an attempt by port authorities to balance their operations with the needs of the local community and seasonal visitor patterns at this popular seaside location.
