Worthing show for legendary folk outfit
Steeleye Span has announced a performance at Worthing's Pavilion Theatre on Sunday, 1 November. The folk-rock band will be showcasing material from across their extensive back catalogue, including fan favourites and songs from their latest release.
New album tour
The concert is part of the band's UK tour to promote Conflict, their first full studio album in more than five years. The album continues the group's tradition of blending modern and self-composed pieces with older songs. According to reports, the album's title reflects both current times and environmental challenges facing the planet.
The first single from Conflict, Over the Hills and Far Away, was released on 9 May. The song gained prominence through its use in the 1990s television series Sharpe and was also recorded by former Steeleye Span member Tim Hart.
The line-up
The band will be led by Maddy Prior, Andrew Sinclair, Roger Carey, Liam Genockey, Julian Littman and Athena Octavia. Octavia, a recent addition to the band, is part of the indie folk band Iris & Steel and is an acclaimed classical violinist.
