New Wellness Hub Opens on Portland Road in Hove
Ember House will open its doors on 16 November, offering training, yoga, sauna and cold plunge facilities alongside a café.
New wellness venue coming to Portland Road
Ember House, an independently owned wellness hub, will open in Hove on 16 November. Located on Portland Road, the venue aims to provide space for locals to focus on their health, connect with others and enjoy their time.
The facility is divided into four main areas. A training studio will offer coached small-group personal training sessions focused on building strength and fitness for everyday life, plus open gym sessions. A separate movement studio will host yoga, Pilates and other classes.
For recovery and relaxation, visitors will find a large Finnish-style sauna handmade in the UK and cold plunges. An on-site café will serve coffee, smoothies, shakes and a selection of healthy food and snacks.
Flexible approach to membership
Unlike traditional gyms, Ember House features warm, modern interiors with its own visual identity. The venue offers various membership options alongside standalone movement and recovery packages. Drop-in visits are also available.
The café will be open to everyone, whether people are using the facilities or simply stopping by for a coffee or to work. Throughout the year, Ember House will host workshops, talks and events aimed at bringing the local community together.
Local roots
Co-founder Richard Harmer said: "With Ember House, we wanted to make looking after yourself feel like a natural part of everyday life. That meant creating somewhere that takes a more considered approach to training and wellbeing, but also somewhere people actually want to spend time."
Harmer added: "We've lived locally for 20 years and love the strong neighbourhood feel around Portland Road and the brilliant mix of independent businesses. Ember House has been created with that in mind, a place people feel comfortable coming back to, whatever brings them through the door."
