Christmas Market Set to Open at Royal Pavilion's New City Square
Brighton's new public space in front of the Royal Pavilion will host its first event this Christmas, with a traditional market running for two months.
First Event for New Public Space
The new public square in front of the Royal Pavilion will welcome its first event this Christmas season. Cole's Family Funfairs is running a small, traditional market from 26 November to 27 December, with the space open daily from midday to 9pm.
What to Expect
Visitors will find stalls offering Christmas crafts alongside food and drink options including hot chocolate, mulled wine, cheese, desserts and a Bavarian grill. The council says live music will feature on some days during the festive period.
The public space was created as part of the third phase of Brighton and Hove City Council's Valley Gardens revamp, which involved re-routing roads from The Level to Palace Pier.
Drawing Visitors to the City Centre
Cabinet member for tourism David McGregor said: "It's great to be bringing a traditional Christmas Market to Valley Gardens and making good use of our newest public space."
He added that the central and well-connected location would help draw visitors to the city centre, where they can easily reach the seafront, shopping areas and attractions for food, drink and leisure activities.
Future Plans
The council expects to host many more events at Valley Gardens throughout 2027. McGregor also confirmed that the popular ice rink will return at a new venue at the Old Steine for Christmas 2027.
