Brighton and Hove has secured second place in a ranking of UK cities best suited to solo dating. The study, conducted by Pour Moi, awarded the city a score of 63.46 out of 100. York topped the rankings with a score of 96.57.

The research examined factors including safety and opportunities for creative, indulgent and grounding experiences. Brighton and Hove was highlighted for its vintage shops, independent cafes and entertainment venues, with Brighton Palace Pier specifically mentioned.

Emma Woodrow, lingerie buyer at Pour Moi, commented on the broader trend: "Solo dating is no longer just happening because someone has stood you up.
