New wine bar launches in The Lanes
Vagabond Wines is opening to the public on Monday 2 November at its Duke Street location in The Lanes. The self-serve bar held a press preview on the evening of 29 October.
The venue features more than 100 wines stored in temperature-controlled cases, each connected to self-pour machines. The wines are grouped by style, such as reds and whites, with information sheets above each bottle. Customers can purchase a 25ml taster before ordering a small or large glass.
Sommeliers are available to guide customers through the selection. Sparkling tea is also offered as an alcohol-free alternative. Fizzy wines must be ordered at the bar.
Local English wines on offer
Vagabond Wines sources several English wines produced at its own Urban Winery in London, using grapes grown in Sussex and South East vineyards. Winemaker Jose Quintana, who grew up on a farm in Sussex, crafts these wines.
Food and space
The menu includes modern European small plates and sharing dishes such as burrata di Puglia, pil pil prawns, padrón peppers, Ibérico croquetas and hanger steak tagliata.
The venue spans two floors with capacity for 79 guests inside and 18 outdoor seats.
