Taco Bell on London Road asks to open later

The franchise wants to serve until 2.30am inside and 3am for takeaway. Police and council licensing have objected.

Brighton & Hove Editorial27 October 2026

The Taco Bell on London Road, run by the chain's largest UK operator, has applied to stay open later: eat-in until 2.30am daily, followed by a short dispersal period, and takeaway sales until 3am. No alcohol is involved. At present the branch is licensed to serve until midnight, with deliveries until 3am.

Sussex Police and the council's licensing team have both objected. The council's licensing policy is for no new late-night takeaways in the London Road area to operate after midnight, or for deliveries beyond 2am, and police have asked for door staff from midnight to close if the licence is granted.

A panel of three councillors is due to hear the application at 10am on Monday 2 November, and the hearing is scheduled to be webcast.
