Korean street food brand Kimsijang eyes North Street
Kimsijang, a new venture from the founder of the Wasabi chain, has applied for a shopfront in the old Leon unit on North Street.
A new Korean street food brand is lining up a move into central Brighton. Kimsijang has applied for planning permission for a new shopfront at the former Leon unit on North Street, which is currently being fitted out.
The brand comes from Dong Hyun Kim, who founded the Japanese food chain Wasabi in 2003 and left that business in 2021, by which point it had grown to around 40 stores across the UK. Kimsijang is expected to open in Brighton, and in London's Chinatown, this winter.
The shopfront application can be followed on the city council's planning register. We will update this piece once an opening date is confirmed.
