Free bike lights as the darker evenings return
With the clocks gone back, the council is handing out free lights and reflective kit and talking to cyclists at rush hour.
With the clocks back and the evenings drawing in, the city council's road safety team is handing out free visibility kit, temporary bike lights, reflective stickers and hi-vis rucksack covers, and talking to people who cycle, walk and wheel during the evening rush hour.
Officers, working with Sussex Police and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, will be out from about 4.45pm to 6.30pm on: Monday 26 October around St Peter's Church; Tuesday 27 October on Church Road, Hove near Grand Avenue; Wednesday 28 October at Preston Park South; Thursday 29 October at The Highway junction with Lewes Road; and Friday 30 October near the Aquarium junction by Madeira Drive.
The Highway Code requires a white front light and a red rear light after dark, and recommends reflective or bright clothing for anyone walking or wheeling in the dark.
