A leafy, affluent residential area on the wooded northern slopes, known for large houses and the Withdean sports ground. BN1.
Withdean is a green, affluent residential area on the northern slopes of the city, set among mature trees and winding roads between Preston Park and the Downs. It is one of Brighton's leafiest neighbourhoods, characterised by large detached and semi-detached houses on generous plots, and is consistently among the most expensive places to live in the city.
The area is best known for the Withdean Sports Complex, built on the site of a former Roman villa and once the home ground of Brighton & Hove Albion before the move to the Amex Stadium. Withdean station, on the edge of the area, gives quick access into the centre and up to London, and the surrounding woodland and downland make it popular with families who want space and greenery close to the city.
