The terraced streets west of central Hove, including Poets Corner, with Portland Road's independent shops and an easy walk to the sea. BN3.
West Hove covers the grid of streets running back from the seafront west of central Hove, taking in the much-loved neighbourhood of Poets Corner, where the roads are named after Shakespeare, Byron, Coleridge and other writers. It is a friendly, densely built area of Victorian and Edwardian terraces, long popular with families and young professionals priced out of the centre.
The spine of the area is Portland Road, a genuine local high street of independent shops, cafes and community spaces that has grown livelier in recent years. The seafront and the beach huts of Western Esplanade lie to the south, Aldrington station and the lagoon at Hove are close by to the west, and the area combines affordable terraced housing with a strong neighbourhood feel and quick access to the sea.
