A large residential and student district in the Lewes Road valley, home to a university campus and close to the Amex Stadium. BN2.
Moulsecoomb is a large residential district in the Lewes Road valley to the north-east of the centre, built mainly as council housing between the wars and after, and now one of the busiest student quarters in the city. Both the University of Brighton's Moulsecoomb campus and, a little further up the road, the University of Sussex at Falmer draw thousands of students to the area.
The Lewes Road corridor through Moulsecoomb is a major bus route lined with shops and student housing, and the district includes the green space of Moulsecoomb Place and quick access to Wild Park and the Downs. Falmer station and the nearby Amex Stadium, home of Brighton & Hove Albion, sit at the top of the valley, making the area the main gateway for match days and for students travelling in and out of the city.
