New bookshop welcomes readers to Worthing

Tilly's Bookshop opens its doors to the public on Saturday, October 24. The independent store is run by Tilly, a Worthing resident who has spent years working as a bookseller before deciding to open her own shop in her hometown.

"After years of working as a bookseller and sharing my love of books online, I finally decided to take the plunge and open my own bookshop in my hometown of Worthing," Tilly said. "I can't wait to welcome people through our doors for the first time."

Shop focus and stock

The bookshop specialises in adult fiction, featuring a mix of new and established literary voices. A dedicated children's section will be curated by a specialist bookseller, ensuring age-appropriate recommendations for younger readers.

Community plans

Tilly hopes the shop will become a community hub, with plans for author events and activities to bring readers together. The Booksellers Association welcomed the opening, with a spokesperson saying: "We're delighted to welcome Tilly's Bookshop to the bookselling community. Tilly brings valuable bookselling experience and a real passion for discovering and championing new literary voices."

The opening adds to Worthing's retail options and represents a continued interest in independent bookshops in the area.
