A Genuine Gem in the Heart of Hove

One of Hove's most treasured pubs is preparing for a new chapter. The Better Half, described as a "genuine pub" nestled in the heart of Hove close to the seafront, has been listed for sale with a freehold guide price of £1,050,000.

Simon and Helen Stern have run the beloved establishment for 11 happy years and are now looking forward to their well-deserved retirement. During their tenure, the couple have completely reinvented the business, transforming it into a thriving community venue that has earned the affection of locals and visitors alike.

Building a Community

In a heartfelt statement, the Sterns reflected on their time running the pub: "Over the years, we've been fortunate to build a loyal customer base and a warm, welcoming atmosphere where people can enjoy good food, a drink with friends and feel part of something special."

They continued: "The Better Half has been a huge part of our lives, and we're incredibly proud of what it has become. We hope to pass it on to new owners who will embrace its community spirit, bring their own ideas and energy and enjoy the same rewards that we have over the years."

The Sterns emphasise that for the right person, taking on The Better Half represents "a wonderful opportunity to take on a much-loved pub with strong foundations and plenty of potential for the future."

Facilities and Layout

The pub boasts excellent facilities for both patrons and operators. It features an open-plan bar with seating for 60 guests, a courtyard offering an additional 20 seats, and private accommodation comprising three bedrooms—ideal for owner-occupiers.

Nick Earee, Divisional Director of Fleurets South, expressed his enthusiasm about bringing the property to market: "Having been based in Brighton and Hove for many years, I am delighted to have been instructed to bring this genuine pub in the heart of Hove, close to the seafront, to market."

Next Steps

The Better Half is now officially on the market through Fleurets, with viewings available by appointment. Prospective buyers interested in taking on this established community hub are invited to get in touch with the selling agents.

As the Sterns embark on their retirement, they leave behind a legacy of warm hospitality and genuine community connection—qualities they hope their successors will cherish and build upon.
